Scriptures

God Loves YOU

One of the most important aspects of inner healing from trauma is to realize how much God loves you. As you read through the following Scriptures, ask the Lord to give you a new revelation of his love for you. His love shines through even when you feel the most unlovely and wounded.

The passage below from the Song of Songs can be viewed as a passage in which Jesus is speaking to his bride, the Church. When Jesus speaks to his church he is speaking also individually to you. Read this Scripture as if the Lord is talking directly to you!

Song Of Songs 2:8-15
Listen! My lover! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. (This is you speaking to Jesus)

9  My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.

10  My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. (This section is Jesus speaking to you)

11  See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.

12  Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

13  The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."

14  My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

15  Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.

It is difficult to see ourselves as God’s beautiful one or God’s darling (v. 10).

We are not just liked
We are not just accepted
We are not just somewhat pretty to God

We are beautiful!

We are called today to upgrade our thinking on the subject of how the God of the universe sees us.

We are to arise (v 10).
Arise requires a movement, a change of mental mindset. In Hebrew it means to stir-up as if to arise from slumber.

What prevents us from waking up?

"Catch for us the little foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in full bloom." (v. 15)

Little Foxes are lies we have accepted based on trauma in our life or based on the voice of Satan.

John 8:43-44
43  Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.
44  You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

1 Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

The Lies we accept in our lives:

#1
Who is your Father?  This question assumes we don’t have a heavenly Father or that he doesn’t know us and we don’t know Him. But yet Scripture clearly tells us who are Father is.

Psalm 139: 13-16
13  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16  your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

John 14:20-21
20  On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

#2
Jesus Wouldn’t Come To You! This lie assumes that Jesus and his powerful love are for the other people but not for you. You have many wounds and scars therefore you can’t be the beloved!

My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice (v.9).
This is Jesus wanting to come to you.

A gazelle or young stag leaps, skips and approaches with vigor, not at all weary to approach the one he loves. He stands close, gazing through the window, just waiting to be invited in.

Will you invite Him?

“Show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” (v. 14.)

Galatians 4:6-7
6  Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."
7  So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

These Galatians verses tell us of our rightful place with Jesus.

#3
Are You Sure You Can Trust God?

This question introduces fear into your life, attempting to encourage you to take control of your own life.

The question introduces the concept of winter into your life.  “See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.” (v. 11)

The winter is symbolic of not accepting the assurance of the cross of Jesus in our lives.  It is the curse of the law, no matter how hard we try we can’t control life! All of our days are winter without the salvation, healing and the trust of the cross.

Psalm 17: 6-9
6  I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.
7  Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
8  Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings
9  from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.

Psalm 9: 9-12
9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
10  Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
11  Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
12 For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.

Psalm 13: 5-6
5  But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6  I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.

#4
You must perform and strive in order to be loved by God. The Bible clearly contradicts this premise.

Galatians 3: 1-3
1  You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.
2  I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?
3  Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!!!!!!!

The Lord looks at the motives of your heart, it’s not about performance!

When you are asking the Lord to heal trauma in your life, it may be wise to take communion every day at home. Ask you ponder the sacrifice of the Cross and thank Jesus for what he did for you, read these declarations aloud. We believe that these declarations allow the Holy Spirit to work powerfully to heal you.

Communion Declarations

In the name of Jesus I break, shatter, cut-off, dissolve and destroy the lie that says I am not special. I proclaim that the winter is past; the rains are over and gone.
